Moro Privacy Policy

Moro ("the App") is a third-party client for Mastodon and the fediverse, developed by somincola llc ("we", "us", "our"). We designed Moro to be privacy-respecting: we do not run our own servers for your social data, we do not sell your data, and we do not use it to track you.

The short version

  • Your Mastodon account, posts, messages, and follows are exchanged directly between the App on your device and the Mastodon server (instance) you choose. We do not operate that server and do not receive or store that content.
  • Your login credentials (access tokens) are stored only on your device, in the iOS Keychain.
  • We collect anonymous crash and diagnostic data (via Sentry) to fix bugs and improve stability. It is not linked to your identity and is never used for advertising or tracking.
  • No ads. No third-party tracking. No selling of data.

Information the App handles

On your device only (never sent to us)

  • Access tokens / session credentials for the instance(s) you log into — stored securely in the iOS Keychain.
  • Local caches (timelines, images, drafts, settings) — stored on your device.

Exchanged with the Mastodon instance you choose (not with us)

Your posts, replies, direct messages, follows, likes, and profile actions are sent to and from the Mastodon server you connect to, under that server's own privacy policy and terms. Each instance is operated independently — please review the policy of the instance you use.

Collected by us via Sentry, to operate and improve the App

  • Crash logs, performance data, and other diagnostic data, including app version, device model, operating system version, and technical details about errors.
  • This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across apps or websites. We use it solely to diagnose crashes and improve reliability (app functionality).
  • Sentry is a third-party crash-reporting service. See Sentry's privacy policy.

In-app purchases

If the App offers optional in-app purchases or tips, payment is processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell or rent your data.
  • We do not use your data for advertising.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not collect your contacts, precise location, browsing history, or health data.

Data retention

On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. You can log out at any time to remove stored credentials from your device. Diagnostic data collected via Sentry is retained per Sentry's settings and used only for debugging.

Children

Moro is not directed to children. The App is rated 16+ and intended for users who meet the minimum age requirement in their region.

Your choices

  • Log out at any time to remove stored credentials from your device.
  • Uninstall the App to remove all local data.
  • Contact us with privacy questions or requests at the address below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
